Season 1, Episode 7 (Spring Season, 2018)
Andy Stanley. He said that "Peter, James, Paul elected to unhitch the Christian faith from their Jewish scriptures, and my friends, we must as well." And, taken on its own, that is a radical statement that has caused a bit of a dust up. But, in this episode, Kurt both defends him as not a heretic, but also points toward a better path of understanding the relationship between second temple Judaism and the New Testament. What's in a name? When it comes to Paul the Apostle, quite a bit. It's likely that you've heard that Paul the lover of Jesus used to be Saul the hater of Christians. The name change was an identity shift. In this episode, Kurt confronts this idea as a myth.
